This page describes my experiences fitting a Nokia CK-7W carkit to a Golf MkV GT TDI.
Unlike some other cars the Golf doesn't appear to have many visible screw-holes, so it was a bit tricky to work out how to remove some of the trim!
It is possible to purchase some on-line manuals from Volkswagen here, which might describe the process in more detail.
I put the microphone in the trim to the right hand side of the overhead console. The overhead console does have space for a microphone, but the Nokia microphone would not fit in here.

The microphone was installed and fixed to the overhead lining. By loosening the screw holding the sunvisor and the two screws holding the centre console unit to the roof it was possible to gently lower the headlining slightly in order to run the microphone plug through.

Run the cable along the top of the windscreen, hooking it in to the underside of the headining. Run it down the 'A' pillar, and then into the fusebox area - unclip the cover on the right-hand side of the dashboard to do this. Unscrew the two screws holding the under-dash cover and run the cable towards the centre console. I tied the cable up using cable-ties to prevent rattling. Replace all the trim:

I decided to fit the control unit into the centre console. There appeared to be space underneath the radio (behind the heater controls) but the control unit would have been quite close to a wiring harness. I was worried about RFI from the Bluetooth radio, so decided that the centre console would be safer.
The gear lever gaiter pulls off, and reveals two screws. Unscrew these, and the ashtray unit hinges up/forwards from the back:

The control unit fits into place beneath the ashtray. I used hoop-fasteners to stick it to the carpet:

I ran the cable to the handset holder through the side of the centre console, against the carpet so that it came out by the seat. I am still not completely sure where to fix the cradle, so have held it in place with a cable tie against the side of the centre console. This works quite well, but looks a bit ugly. I stuck the control button on top of one of the blanks in the centre console, and ran the cable down against the gear-lever gaiter.

The radio needs to be removed in order to connect the telephone mute and loudspeaker connectors. This is done as follows:
Gently prise out the sensor from the rear of the vent on the top of the dashboard. The vent grille is clipped on - gently lever it up. It can then be lifted off by lifting from the back.

Once this has been done, remove the screw which is visible underneath.

Once this has been removed the panel may be lifted up to reveal 2 more screws, which hold the vent assembly to the dashboard. Once these are removed the vent may be lifted upwards and unclipped from the dashboard. It is held in place at the front by two fingers which look as though they could break easily.

Two screws holding the front trim around the radio become visible. Remove these, and then gently unclip the trim around the radio. The radio may now be removed by removing the four screws around it.

A lead must now be made to connect the car-kit to the telephone mute connectors on the radio.

The pin connections for this radio appear to be identical to the Volkswagen Delta Radio:
- Radio mute connects to Pin11 of connector D (Pin connections can be seen
from the legend on the radio)
- Speaker connects to Pins 6 and 12 of connector C
The "ignition on" signal is harder to obtain as the RCD300 radio appears to be turned on and off via the CANbus. This also controls lighting, and GALA, which are not available as separate connections.
Connector B connects to the VW CD Changer.
Pin 10 goes to +12v when the radio is switched on.
Pin 4 is a continous +12v supply to the changer.
